Alot can happen in a week

Last week about this time I found myself in the hospital.  Let me take you back just a bit..I promise to keep it short.

Last weekend was full of Thanksgiving, Duck football game, friends staying with us over the weekend, Duck Basketball game, dinner party at our house and ended with what I was hoping was a lazy Sunday.  As I was watching Kendra :) relaxing on the couch I felt like I tinkled my pants...hmmm that wasn't normal.  I brushed it off until it kept happening.  I quickly started to panic and jumped into the shower just in case it was something.

After talking with the doctor we went to the hospital. And after some deliberation (I swore up and down to them I don't pee my pants, this was very unusual!) I was admitted and while my body started to dilate more on my own they decided that night to start Pitocin.  Ok, fine I had been there done that..lets roll!  Well, holy crap, not sure how I made it to a 7/8 last time without an epidural but I was at a 4 and needed one stat.  After getting the wonderful drugs I changed in 30min to a 7 and then 20min later to a 10...it was time to push.

WAIT, how the hell did I get here?! I'm actually having this baby?!!!...was all I could think of.  I was supposed to have another 2-3 weeks! I still had a week of work, I had a pedi/mani that weekend, I needed to get some more stuff and.... Anyway after pushing 3 times, Miss Sloane decided to make her entrance.

Sloane Marie Simmons

5lbs 15oz
19 inches

Thankfully she is eating well and is pretty low key.  I realize they wake up in another week or so, but Davis wasn't even eating well from me at this point so things are already better.

I'd like to check this off my 40 b4 40 list, I'm sure I'll be talking alot about her on this blog.

Here's to sweet surprises!

Love

I love alot of things...and we'd be here forever if I named all of them off..one local place I love is Cannon Beach.  Not sure what it is about this little beach town, but I truly enjoy spending time there.  Part of what I love is that its not dumpy like some beach towns, and yet its not commercialized like others.

This last Saturday Brandon and I dropped Davis off with the grandparents and headed to CB.  We haven't been to CB together in years, and lets face it...some time alone without a little one deciding he wants to do something different ever 2 minutes just sounds like bliss.

The funny part of it is, is that most of Portland had the same idea.  We had made our reservations a few weeks prior not knowing it would be sizzling in Portland.

The minute we rounded the corner into town, it was cloudy! hahah  We didn't mind the clouds and breeze. We wandered through town, had lunch and talked, and then sat on the beach for a few hours reading.  The one thing that struck me as we were sitting down having coffee and pastires the next morning (reading the paper uninterrupted), was this is what life was like before kids.  I had sort of forgotten.  And while I wouldn't go back to that life and we kept wishing Davis was with us, it was a great reminder to get away for even just one night every once in a while and enjoy.

Had to post this one...not sure what this lady was thinking?
Maybe the rock looked better than we did :)

Such cute houses!
ahhhhhhhhh so relaxing!

Do you have any fun/quick destination spots you want to share?

PS

Palm Springs was fabulous, just what the doctor ordered.  Its been a busy few months, mainly travel between B and I for work and a quick trip to Reno to see the in-laws new pad.  Finally we ended the craziness with a relaxed family vacation to sun and heat!

We vacationed with my parents, and since its been awhile since I vacationed with them I was a bit nervous that I'd be pulling my hair out by the end..but I was proved wrong (love it when that happens).  The trip was in two words.. FUN and RELAXING.

The Hotel had a slide, Davis loved it!
B is going to die if he sees I posted this pic! hhhehehhe

We pretty much slept in and then slowly got ready, next stop...pool.  I guess next time we really just need to go anywhere with a fun pool because we didn't see much of PS.

Poor guy got a heat rash the second day, but that didn't stop him.

Our "villa" as they are called was right on the 18th hole so when my dad and B were coming around they picked up Davis.  He was soo excited!  Love this picture of them three.  My dad is a pretty serious guy, so its fun to hang out with him while vacationing, sooo mellow and relaxed.

Below are some of my faves, they played music all day by the pool.  One night after dinner we decided to go back swimming before D's bedtime.  We were the only ones there and he was digging the music...did a little dance for us.

Its so funny how long we anticipate and look forward to vacation and how fast it zips by.  Guess its time to plan another :)

P.S... visiting PS is the first thing I can check off my 40 Before 40 list!

So my birthday is a little over a month away...ok more than that, but getting close.  Once I passed 30, I tend to forget really how old I am.....even as I type this I'm doing the math.  I guess I'm turning 32 (if my math is correct, Pi, can you help me out here?!) but I was convinced I was turning 33.

Anyway, on the the subject of this post...I saw on a list of 30 things before 30 on the Oh Happy Day blog.  It really has got me thinking the last few days.  What are 40 things I want to do in the next 7 errr... 8 years.
